Gutenberg Bible - detail from the New Testament

We are proposing to read the New Testament in this roughly chronological order because we hope all of us might gain some insight by reading the books out of their canonical order. Sometimes reading familiar texts in an unfamiliar way can open our eyes to new ideas and fresh insights.

Since we are just beginning this project, we don’t know, yet, what we will discover. It’s a bit of an experiment. It will be interesting to see how spending time with Paul and the people of the churches in Thessalonike, Galatia, Corinth, Philippi and Rome influences our reading of the gospels. We look forward to hearing about your experience of this as we read together this year.
